What's the difference between a static object and an active object?
Active objects can be interacted with during game play, like a ball or a wall, static objects don't move, it just sits in the same place during game play. Programming follows what logical design process? The programming follows a logical design process that makes it easy to interpret and if/then logic statement. What is coding? What are the top 3 coding languages and which is the most popular? Coding is the process a programmer uses to record the words and symbols that the computer can understand, and the result is called code. Java, Python, and C. are the top coding languages. JAVA IS THE MOST POPULAR BECAUSE OF HOW EASY IT IS TO LEARN AND UNDERSTAND IT. What are 3 examples of this in Ghost Splat? If you click on the ghost, then it disappears. If you click start, then you start the game. If you click info., then you go to the info. screen. Video Game:
is a software-entertainment product that has a game environment, rules, and a victory condition. Game Environment: a setting altered or designed to play a specific game activity. Rule: a constraint that determines what can or cannot happen in the game. Victory Condition: defines what the player must achieve in order to win the game. What is a game Designer and his/her purpose?
Game Designers devise what a game consists of and how it plays. They plan and define all the elements of a game: its setting; structure; rules; story flow; characters; the objects, props, vehicles, and devices available to the characters; interface design; and modes of play. What concept are games? Games in Game Maker are built around a concept of rooms. What are other names for a ‘room’ in other types of of 2D game design software? The room is where you place game objects to create a scene. In other types of 2 dimensional (2D) game design software, maps, levels, or frames are used instead of rooms. These terms refer to the same things. What is a sprite? When a 2D image is used in a game, it is called a sprite. Anytime you want to add an image to Game Maker, you first need to upload it into Game Maker as a sprite. Almost everything you see in a 2-D game is a sprite image file. What is an object? In Game Maker, you cannot add programming to a sprite. Here, sprites are simply the image used for an object. Objects in Game Maker can receive programming. An object can be placed in a room, while a sprite cannot. What is an instance? Each time you place an object in a room, you are creating an instance of that object in the game. An instance is an exact copy, and it inherits the properties of the parent object. What was the first game system? The first game system was "the brown box". List the first three games made. What program was used to create them? the first games were pong, space wars, and speed race. Atari was used for Pong. What do you hope to accomplish with the game design unit? I hope to make at least one successful game that i'm proud of. Whens does the oldest known documentation say the flip book was created and who was it patented by?
The first flipbook appeared in 1868 when it was patented by John Barnes Linnett under the name kineograph. What was the flip book originally called? The flip book was originally called the kineograph. What animation did walt disney first use the flip book technique for? Walt Disney used the flip book technique for Steamboat Willie. What is stop motion animation? what’s another name? Stop motion, also Called stop frame, is an animation technique that requires stoping and starting the camera. What things can be used to animate in stop motion? Anything can be animated using stop motion. Cameras and certain programs can help make the animations. What are the common principles of stop motion regardless of the material being used in the animations? Place something in front of the camera and take a picture, then move the object and take another picture, and lastly, do this a million times. Typically how many frames comprise a second of animation? Typically, about 12 frames comprise a second of animation. What is an armature? An armature is the 'skeleton' of a puppet so it can stay in a position for long periods of time. How was Jack able to change faces and emotions in a “Nightmare before Christmas”? Jack had multiple heads, each with different expressions on it. what tools and software has made stop motion easier? Our recent technology has made stop motion easier. What is the difference between a zoetrope, thaumatrope, and how do they work? How are they similar? they both show motion through multiple images being gone through rapidly. Zoetropes work by producing the illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of drawings or photographs showing progressive phases of that motion. Thaumatropes work by a picture on each side is attached to two pieces of string. When the strings are twirled quickly between the fingers the two pictures appear to blend into one due to the persistence of vision. The difference is that a thaumatrope is with pices of paper spining with help from the string holding it; A zoetrope is with round disk that has multiple images showing motion being spun in a circle. Timeline of AnimationWhat is the earliest record of animation?
the earliest record is from 3,000 B.C. It is a pottery bowl with pictures on it. What is the zoetrope? a 19th-century optical toy consisting of a cylinder with a series of pictures on the inner surface that, when viewed through slits with the cylinder rotating, give an impression of continuous motion. What is the thaumatrope? A thaumatrope is an optical toy that was popular in the 19th century. A disk with a picture on each side is attached to two pieces of string. When the strings are twirled quickly between the fingers the two pictures appear to blend into one due to the persistence of vision. What is the phenakisticope? The phénakisticope was the first widespread animation device that created a fluid illusion of motion. What principle does the zoetrope, thaumatrope, and the phenakisticope operate on? couldn't find it. What is persistence of vision? Persistence of vision refers to the optical illusion whereby multiple discrete images blend into a single image in the human mind and believed to be the explanation for motion perception in cinema and animated films. What is the first full Cel animated movie? Humorous Phases of Funny Faces What is the first full computer animated movie? Toy Story Who developed the first successful cartoon character, Gertie the dinosaur? Gertie the Dinosaur is a 1914 animated short film by American cartoonist and animator Winsor McCay. Sepia: This Sepia is of a pond bubbling calmly while people walk around it. Silhouette: This is of four students jumping for joy as school lets out. What is my favorite cartoon and why?
My favorite cartoon is probably Gravity Falls because the animation style was really adorable and it was a funny cartoon. Definition of the following: Persistence of vision- Persistence of vision refers to the optical illusion whereby multiple discrete images blend into a single image in the human mind. Apparent motion- The illusion of percieved motion occurs when two successive stimuli are shown seperated by a brief flash. The percieved appearance is of one stimuli moving from the location of the first stimuli to the second. An everyday example of this phenomenon is motion picture films, which string together thousands of static images to cause the appearance of motion. Which is the best definition and why? The best definition would probably be Apparent Motion because persistence of vision is dealing with optical allusions and it makes one image in the mind. Types of animation: Hand-drawn- an animation technique where each frame is drawn by hand. The technique was the dominant form of animation in cinema until the advent of computer animation. same as cel. stop-motion- a technique used in animation to bring static objects to life on screen. This is done by moving the object in increments while filming a frame per increment. When all the frames are played in sequence it shows movement. computer-assisted- the art of creating moving images via the use of computers. Which is the best type of process and why? The best form of animation is probably computer-assisted because it's on the computer and it's easier to do multiple drawings on the computer. Forced Perspective:
The first time i went to DC was awesome! One of the first places my family and i went was the Washington monument. It was so tall! My parents wanted my sister and i to take a picture in front of the monument as if we were holding it. we did and the picture turned out Amazing! Silhouette: The first time I scored a goal on my new soccer team was Exuberating. I was on defense and it was a PK up the field. My coach told me to take it. I did. It was as if the world was in slow motion. I got in position, alined my feet to the ball, and kicked. The ball went to the top right corner of the goal and skimmed it. It went in. there was silence everywhere for a second; then roars of applause. Double Exposure: When my family and i moved to virginia, My mind felt like it was in another place. I was in the real world, but outside of it too. During the drive, i took comfort in being able to go between worlds. If i got too sad, the world outside my head was comforting. |
